Vallejo officer shot and killed during pursuit
On November 17, 2011 Office Jim Capoot was fatally wounded by a young male in Vallejo after the pursuit of a bank robber moments after the robbery occurred. I got the honor to meet Jim Capoot early 2003 when I went to high school with his daughter Jamie. He was also the basketball coach at Vallejo High School when I attended school. It was hard for me when I received the news because he was a police officer that cared about the people in his community and cared about other people children and focused on what was right and didn't focus on what was wrong about the person. He was a 19 year veteran in the police force and will be remembered well beyond years to come. It angers me to see such crime done in a county I have moved out of for 10 months. I would have never thought somebody so close can once again be taken from life so soon. He has a wonderful wife and 3 daughters that will carry on his legacy strong and faithfully. I strongly believe whoever took his life will suffer for the rest of their lives for taking a positive individual off the earth. There have been a lot of negative people commenting on his death just because of his job title. But he was not a “crooked” officer at all. A lot of people had great respect for Jim and I wish they would respect him now that he passed.
